The Valley Winds is a professional wind ensemble based in Western Massachusetts, bringing together many of the region's most accomplished performers, educators, and artists. United by a shared commitment to artistic excellence, the ensemble presents compelling performances of wind band's well known works alongside innovative new works that expand and enrich the repertoire.

Founded in 2014 by a group of musicians who believed the Pioneer Valley deserved a professional wind ensemble, The Valley Winds has grown into one of the region's leading musical organizations. What began as a shared vision has become a vibrant artistic community dedicated to creating meaningful musical experiences for audiences while providing professional performance opportunities for exceptional musicians throughout the region.

The ensemble is recognized for adventurous programming, expressive performances, and a commitment to championing new music. As a leading partner in the Mexican Repertoire Initiative at Dartmouth College, The Valley Winds has commissioned, premiered, recorded, and promoted works by contemporary Mexican composers including Arturo Márquez, Nubia Jaime Donjuan, Omar Arellano Osorio, Gabriela Ortiz, and Rodrigo Martínez Torres. Through its publishing imprint, Valley Winds Publishing, the ensemble has also helped make this growing body of repertoire available to conductors, educators, and ensembles throughout the world.

Collaboration is central to the ensemble's artistic identity. The Valley Winds has appeared with distinguished guest artists including Romie de Guise-Langlois, Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, Shigefumi Tomita, Frank Ticheli, and many other celebrated performers, composers, and educators whose artistry has enriched the ensemble's programming.

Education and community engagement remain at the heart of the organization's mission. Through concerto competitions, side-by-side performances, clinics, and partnerships with schools and universities, The Valley Winds seeks to inspire musicians of all ages while strengthening the cultural life of Western Massachusetts.

Today, The Valley Winds presents a regular concert season while continuing to expand its artistic reach through recordings, commissions, educational initiatives, and national and intrnational collaborations. Above all, the ensemble is driven by a belief that exceptional wind band music deserves exceptional performances—and that great music has the power to connect communities, celebrate diverse voices, and inspire audiences for generations to come.
