The Pulham Orchestra
An established, vibrant, largely amateur orchestra and registered charity, founded in 1983 and numbering about 40 players, located in the delightful, historic and readily accessible south Norfolk village of Pulham Market.
Rehearsals take place in the village's well-appointed Memorial Hall on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month, (2pm-4pm) a schedule which usually allows members to also maintain their other interests. Performances are usually given 2-3 times a year in churches, schools and other community facilities, often to assist them with fund-raising. Usually biennial 'Come and Play' and 'Come and Sing' events, (one-day orchestral or choral workshops) have formed an important part of our activities for many years and continue to do so. When funds allow, the orchestra actively supports musical education, particularly among the young.
The orchestra continues to be directed by its co-founder, Margery Baker, a life-long music educationalist.
